Clear Channel Pulls the Plug on 100.3 The Beat KATZ FM St. Louis

St. Louis is NOW too small for 2 Urban Stations

Looks like we have another victim of the PPM electronic ratings system.

Hip Hop and R&B is out and "Boo for the Lou" as in Halloween music is in. KATZ 100.3 The Beat survives in spirit with Classic Hip Hop music on the internet and on their 100.3 HD2 channel.

The entire on air staff was let go and speculation is that all holiday music is on tap starting on November 1st until the rest of the year.

The "KATZ" name represents one of the legendary names in Black radio. But it's not completely gone; KATZ-AM does live on in the St. Louis area as gospel station Hallelujah 1600.

The lone Hip Hop and R&B station in St. Louis now is Radio One’s Hot 104.1.

  1. I think that was a bad thing for the Black community. There are about 15 or more other alterntive Radio stations that could have been choosen to play holiday music on. I hope this black named radio station didn't sale because of the white money, we have been saling ourselves out for a long time now. This is a free country so there should not be no limit to what is played and how.
