KBLX Replaces the Kevin Brown Morning Show with Steve Harvey

Here's more fall out from Black owned media company, Inner City Broadcasting's Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filing

The station that plays a unique blend of R&B and Smooth Jazz, KBLX loses it long time morning host and program director Kevin Brown. Steve Harvey takes over on May 7. The syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show will continue with Nikki Thomas' news reports and Joe McConnell with traffic. Unlike it's former sister station in New York, 107.5 WBLS- "The Quiet Storm" 102.9 KBLX will survive under separate ownership. Also being replaced is on-air personality Antoine Davis.

Entercom/San Francisco will begin operating KBLX-FM/San Francisco under a time brokerage agreement (TBA) beginning May 1. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved the TBA and the sale of KBLX to Entercom. The transaction is expected to close later this year. Steve Harvey's syndicated show will begin airing mornings on Monday, May 7. A search for a new PD is underway.

"Entercom couldn't be more excited to start working with a tremendous heritage brand like KBLX. KBLX has done a magnificent job of serving the local community, and we look forward to continuing to do that at Entercom," said VP/Market Manager Dwight Walker. "Adding Steve Harvey in the morning makes KBLX better. His mass appeal will resonate with KBLX listeners and bring in a wider audience over time."

Steve Harvey - "KBLX has a long history in San Francisco and I truly feel blessed to be a part of their lineup...  "

Updated January 18, 2012-- We've decided to update this very popular and heavily commented post from 2012. Kevin Brown (Cousin Kev) had quite a few comments to make in 2017 in the interview below. He talked about some of the shenanigans behind the scenes following his exit from KBLX. When Harvey failed Brown was asked to come back to the station in a lesser capacity. Steve Harvey lasted a year couple of years on KBLX until comedian Mary Curry was brought in. The station's OM today is radio vet Elroy Smith.

KBLX was once known as "The Quiet Storm" 102.9, but today its reflects the sound of many Adult R&B stations that you will hear in most markets across the country with the "Best Old School, Throwbacks, and R&B" imaging.

  1. This ticks me off to no end. No offense to Steve Harvey but Kevin Brown is a Bay Area institution and to cut him lose for a syndicated show is a BAD idea. BAD. KBLX and it's new owners will lose listeners in droves.

  2. This pisses me off. The only reason that I listen to the morning show is because of Kevin, Nikki, and Joe combined. They have a great chemistry together. I think it may be time for me to switch to sattelite radio!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I love Steve Harvey, but the Bay Area LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Kevin Brown to death!!!! Kevin Brown is the heart of KBLX and without him, KBLX will just fade into the woodwork. This is a sad day for all of "Cousin Kev's" loyal listeners...

    ReplyDelete
  4. No more "Cousin" Kevin Brown in the morning...UGGH! I guess I'll listen to more news, sports radio, & Renell in the AM

  5. This is crazy! I love Kevin and the Crew in the morning! I mean I love Steve Harvey too. But it's SYNDICATED!!! Its not even live!! Why would I want to hear a repeat in the morning?! I might as well play a CD. W/o Kevin and the whole Crew, that leaves 98.1 and KMEL for me in the morning. THAT SUCKS!!!! Who will give me my Hollywood Minute? Who's going to interview the comedians that visit the Bay Area, and laugh hilariously during the interview? Who's going to tell me a story that's "Crazy, Weird, but True"? I can understand what Entercom is and wants to do, but just because they think it will make KBLX "better", doesn't mean its right for the Bay Area and the KBLX loyal listeners.

  6. Because of this news, or the forth coming lack thereof, I will no longer support KBLX. It's my drive in the morning support, laugh and info. Good luck to Steve H but this is the bay Area and it's unique to its heritage. Why do you think the Crips and bloods could never get in?! The Bay Area is a tight community. A true loss and I wager it will be a financial one to Entercom. We are not big city but the City!

  7. This is a travesty.....it's unfortunate that companies only care about the almighty dollar....I agree, Kevin Brown is a staple for the Bay Area - he supported a lot of charities and it was nice to hear everyday @ 7:30am to kiss those babies and to watch out for the children...what a loving and caring spirit we have lost. I am moving to Sirius radio-I hope to hear or see Kevin Brown in the near future. Antoine - let's not forget about you...thanks for the evenings...it was nice to listen on-line especially when I had to work late..May God bless and guide you....

  8. this sucks. the morning show is what made kblx kblx. it's how I started my day. the people who came up with this idea must live in new york city. the only people who are happy about this are the other radio stations in the area. No kevin brown in the morning, no kblx.
good luck cousin kevin, we all give you a hug this morning, before you walk out the door.

  9. Triton Radio, Steve Harvey PFFTTT!!!
So long KBLX, you have been a Bay Area institution, sorry to see you go the way of mass media and resorting to the syndicated Steve Harvey show. Don't care for fake people like him and that is why KBLX WAS so great.

  10. I'm mad and sad to see Cousin Kevin and Antoine Davis to be replaced. Especially in this economy. Kevin Brown in the morning always may my day along with Niccky and Joe. The chemistry was great and will be missed. This Radio station was already commercialized enough. But Cousin Kevin in the morning made it worth listening to. He was the best personality in the Bay. Gone But not forgotten. Hope to here from you soon on a New Station the way it was in the past you know a mixture of Jazz and RnB.

  11. I urge you to bring back Cousin Kevin Brown! He made KBLX what it is today-the #1 radio station in the bay! He makes mornings fun! He is as important to the Bay Area as the Golden Gate Bridge is to San Francisco. I enjoy Steve Harvey on Family Fewd on TV but I want to wake up to Kevin Brown and the morning team on the radio. You have lost a loyal KBLX listener if you fail to bring Kevin back! If Kevin moves to another show that's the station I will listen to on my home radio, car radio, on Comcast, and on my computer! A bay area market survey would have revealed how important Kevin is had you done one before you changed KBLX!

  12. Are you serious, Kevin, Nikki, and Joe start you day off right. You could be in a bad mood and they would but a smile on your face, and laugher in you heart. This matter in to be review again and soon...... This is medicine for the soul. We need to stop fixing what's not broken! Praying much for cuz Kevin and Antoine you are so talented, God has some much better in stored for you. The best is yet to come.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Crazy, crazy, crazy! When my wife told me she heard that Cuz Kev had been replaced by Steve Harvey, we didn't initially believe it. Of course after looking it up, we, like most people were totally shocked! We love Cuz Kev in the morning! Was his salary too much for Entercom? I'd hafta imagine that Harvey commands wayyy more--even in syndication? Surely Kevin Brown isn't the reason for the station's bankruptcy?

What really gives? The morning show worked! It was GREAT! U take over a company ; get rid if things that don't or weren't working. Not things that were! Heck, for that matter, I can't think if anything that was wrong with their programming.

As an over-40 listener, I loved KBLX and what they were doing, which of course included Kevin Brown in the Morning. I pray the new Execs realize he has a HUGE following and bring him back.

    My 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  14. This has to be the most upsetting news EVER! I appeal to the new management to bring Kevin Back. This was the ONLY station I listened too and you remove it's STAPLE! NOT A GOOD IDEA at all.

I DO NOT Plan on listening to KBLX any longer!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes, I must agree with everyone else on this issue. I've listened to Steve Harvey's show and although it was funny I never felt as though I'd rather listen to him instead of our morning show.

    ReplyDelete
  16. As it was when they took KKSF off the air, KBLX will say it's just business. I know sponsors pay the bills which keep radio stations on the air, but without listeners there's no need for a radio station.
Kevin Brown, wherever you go your loyal listeners will follow. We wish you well.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What the heck! Where is Kevin Brown?! We want Kevin Brown back! I guess i'm going to listen to 98.1 for now!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. My cousin lost his job. :'-(

    ReplyDelete
  19. I am SO SAD!!! I live in Santa Cruz and literally cannot WAIT to get to the "summit" so I can get KBLX on my radio. I was SHOCKED this morning when I hit the top of the hill and heard "Blah blah blah the NEW KBLX!" What the WHAT???? Kevin Brown was the one bright spot of my commute in the morning! I refuse to listen to KBLX anymore - I honestly have NO reason. :(

    ReplyDelete
  20. I was so shocked and saddened when I learned that Kevin and the morning crew was no more - I am not happy about this ...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Who wants to listen to 3-4 hrs of Steve Harvey - and it's not even live ... I want my Cuz'n Kev. I will miss you Kevin and I will miss KBLX.

    ReplyDelete
  22. This AIN'T COOL!!!!!!!!! i NEED MY CUZIN IN DA MORNING!!!!!!!!
    I WON;T BE LISTENIN ANYMORE!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Why did KBLX DO THIS????????????
    The Bay NEEDS CUSIN KEV!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is a sad day for the Bay Area. The Kevin Brown in the Morning Show has been a community staple--with a connection to the folks who live here. No disrespect for Steve Harvey, but he's everywhere you look--I don't need him with my drive to work too!

This same thing happened a few years ago when KISS FM replaced Renel with Tom Joyner----the syndicated stuff doesn't go in the Bay Area. We are a unique community and we appreciate our local personalities! Bring back the morning show with cuz Kev!

    ReplyDelete
  25. WOW!!! Cousin Kev gone due to big business!!! Don't you at Entercom realize when Steve Harvey did stand up at the Paramount theater he was BOOOOOOOOO'D horribly??? NO BODY IN THE BAY WANTS TO WAKE UP TO GENERIC SYNDICATED RADIO!!! I could listen to some middle school kids do prank calls anytime but ol country Steve Harvey is NOT what the BAY AREA WANTS!!! BRING BACK KEV AND ANTIONE!!! I WILL NOT BE LISTENING!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can't believe this!!! It's sad to see so many locally owned and operated radio stations fall to the hands of these large national corporations. First, NRG 92.7 a few years ago and now Cousin Kevin!!! Bad move Entercom! Really bad move. Not only you lost me as a listener but I will never tune into your station nor even play it at my shop either!! Cousin Kevin is and will ALWAYS be KBLX. Without him KBLX is not what it is!!! I'm sad to say that I won't be tuning in to listen to a syndicated show that doesn't even relate to the Bay Area!! Of course, no disrespect to Steve Harvey, but it's not even live let alone it's totally wrong to replace a very talented person like Cousin Kevin with someone else.

Bring back cousin Kevin and you may get back a listener!

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is freaking crazy. Really you guys think there will be any listener at all. Then you are a crazy monster that only care about your maximized profit. It will not work. I will never listen to " THE NEW KBLX". Ohhh I want to curse so bad but Cousin Kev thought as to better our self. Good Luck Cousin and Antoine. You guys will do well, we know that.

    ReplyDelete
  28. As usual the big time CEO Entercom knows nothing, of the local market they are trying to enter… Just because Steve Harvey has a mass appeal, he won’t work in the Bay. The Bay Area is a special community that likes to be hand fed, and Kevin Brown did that for us. He kept us entertained, and informed on local BAY AREA activities & news. This is what Steve Harvey over in NY cannot do. I don’t see how Steve will “resonate” the Bay, because by removing Kevin Brown in the morning, you just immediately lost a few thousand listeners.

    ReplyDelete
  29. While in New Orleans on vacation, I listened to the Steve Harvey show. His show had topics like husbands cheating on their wives in their homes. His show is degrading and pretty similiar to the Maury Powvich Show. I suppose the new owner think having a bunch of BUFFOONERY on air will make the show better and bring in more listeners.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This sucks....I will miss the interaction between Kevin Brown and Nikki, it is what made my morning and started my day off with so many laughs. Steve Harvey is cool but I wont be listening, I dont need to listen to a program that is coming from back East and is syndicated, makes no since to me, this does not make KBLX better, it takes away from what KBLX is all about. These new owners and executives need to wake up and smell the damn coffe, yea KBLX needs some changes but dont change the one show that had it going on. My best to Kevin Brown know you are loved and greatly missed, I know you will find a new gig !

    ReplyDelete
  31. Truly a bad idea!!! I love Cuz Kev & the Crew. His laugh out loud, bigger than life voice is what made the show. Great that the station was bailed out, but to replace the CuZ???? Who's bright idea was that???!!!! Does any one know where the Cuz will be? Cuz that is where I will be!!! Good luck, but it works better with Cuz Kev who is and always will be irreplaceable. Miss you lots already, Cuz Kev : ( Peace.

    ReplyDelete
  32. What? Are you serious? Kev Brown is our family.
He was listened to by me from morning till night .
I am going to miss him so much. he & Nikki just had such simpatico.
Please bring kevin back. The show will go down with out him.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am so mad about this change going on with KBLX!! Kevin Brown is part of morning ritual!!! I turned on the radio this morning only to hear a new sound like a corporate conglomerate!
    Oh I am MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am just floored! Not Cuzin Kevin and Antoine! Are you kidding. I lived in Texas for years and I would listen to Steve Harvey and he was funny.

But when I came back to the Bay and found Cuzin Kevin still on KBLX I knew I was home! Can't no one do it to us in the Bay like our own. It is truley a sad state of affairs when those in power think that a syndicated show will make us happy instead of a Morning Show that speak to us because it is about us and made just for us.

Cuzin Kevin you are our perfect fit. The one size fit all doesn't do it for for us here.

If anyone hears of Kevin Brown turning up on any other radio show please send the word out. As for me and KBLX I am done back to my Sirus.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I've never done anything like this but I felt I had to post something in hopes of getting Kevin Brown back. I'm under 30 and I love Kevin Brown. I was driving to Bart when I heard Steve Harvey on the radio and I thought I had turn to the wrong station. Like everyone else, I don't think I will be listening to KBLX if Cuzin Kevin doesn't come back. We miss you!!! The Bay Area is pleading for you to bring our Cuzin Kevin back.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My commute home in the morning have been lightened up by THE CREW with Kevin Brown at the helm. Now its gone! I am not listening to a taped broadcast! Ever!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Loyal listener since the 80s now needs a new station, sigh, keep radio local..these guys are part of our community... they live here and are one of us..they make the station what it is...no longer interested...what a shame!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Agree with all of the comments above and will not be listening to KBLX any more.

Also agree with other posts: "The sale of KBLX radio station is a great loss to the Bay Area Community. The Kevin Brown Morning Show with Nicky Thomas and the crew was a staple of this community and well listened to by all ethnic backgrounds and not just the African‑American community."

"I'm saddened by the change in format at KBLX. "Cousin Kevin Brown" made KBLX what it is today. The new owners have no regard for the listening audience and have totally disrespected the African‑American community.

I like Steve Harvey, but he doesn't live in the Bay Area. We want live radio in the Bay Area, not delayed syndicated radio from the East Coast or Texas. What can be done to stop this madness and the dismantling of Black radio stations that target listeners who are 45 years and older.

I mourn the loss of KBLX, and will no longer listen to the station."

    ReplyDelete
  39. The morning show with Kevin Brown as good clean fun as you are driving to work. Niki, Joe and Keven made it a nice day to wake up too.<>

I will have to find another station to listen...<>

They Bay Area easy listening station KBLX was great now it just another station that has sign-off with not meaning

    ReplyDelete
  40. I drove my son to school EVERY morning while listening to Kevin....I absolutely loved his admonition, "Tell those babies you love them; they'll have a better day and you'll have a better day...." To THIS day, my son, now 27, will call occasionally and we end our phone calls with, "I love ya, Baby!" I have ROARED at Kevin and Nicki's banter, love the Love Doctor, and missed Battle of the Sexes and Ages. Kevin ALWAYS made me laugh, even on days when I was not so happy....Kevin, we LOVE you and want you back. I will NEVER listen to KBLX again.

    ReplyDelete
  41. What the heck? This news really saddens me!!!! My fellow listeners have said it all. We should all boycott the new syndicated show until Kevin and Antoine are reunited with the family. You have lost your loyal listeners for good!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have enjoyed listening to cousin Kev's morning show. He has awesome skill of pleasing the public. We won't miss him... we'll find him! Steve Harvey is not comparison. :( We want Kevin back ! Do we need to boycott?
Kevin if you're reading or listening... we need to get you back! AKA Shirley Girl

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is a horrible move. Kevin Brown is like a bay area icon. No offense to Steve Harvey, but Kevin, Nikki, & Joe had that perfect chemistry that no other station had. Still not too late to make this right. Cousin Kev.....I miss you.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Dislike. Why would they do this?? The Bay LOVES Kevin Brown. Entercom (or whatever) sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have listened to KBLX since l was a grad student at Berkeley, even now l listen on the internet because l live on Guam, and KEVIN BROWN is the reason, NOT steve harvey, it's not his medium. You think you made the right money move, HAH!!! You will lose listeners, guaranteed.

    ReplyDelete
  46. If Entercom thiks "KBLX has done a magnificent job of serving the local community . . ." it is because of local personalities like KEVIN BROWN. This is ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I missed cousin Kev when he was out on vacation but now to think of not hearing him clown with nikki and joe, to hear his crazy laugh? I don't know how I will start my day (after prayer) w/o him. I will no longer listen to kblx. Over 70 yrs of age and was a longtime, loyal fan. We will miss you cousin kev. od Bless you and keep you.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I will not be listening to KBLX. Bad move Entercomm

    ReplyDelete
  49. BRING KEVIN BACK!! WHAT A LOST TO YOUR STATION.
HE'S MY MORNING COFFEE BEFORE I GO TO WORK EVERYDAY AND MAKES ME LOL. WITH ALL THAT'S BAD GOING ON DAILY, HE SERVES OUR COMMUNITY; ENCOURGES US TO THE SAME, MAKES US LAUGH, LOOK FORWARD WEEKEND STUFF TO DO. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? I NO LONGER LISTEN TO KBLX INCLUDING SUNDAYS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I tried twice to see what it was about the Steve Harvey show that Entercom would think makes Kevin Brown, a local institution, replaceable. All I could stand to bear was no more than 2 minutes each time. Frankly, I find the Steve Harvey show insulting. Together, Kevin, Nikki, and Joe had the perfect chemistry and the station had class that catered to a diverse, intelligent population. Bay Area listeners are not impressed by CHARACTERS such as, Junior or Butterfly who lack authenticity and class. Anyone who welcomes the Bay Area KBLX listeners with a shout out to Too Short is obviously missing the mark! No more tuning in to KBLX without Kevin Brown for me!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have listened to KBLX's Kevin Brown forever!! I have watched him participate in community events and attend late night concerts. I have no intention of listening to syndicated Steve Harvey. I can listen to him in every other city I visit. That is what made the Bay unique. Bad decisions here.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am boycotting the new KBLX. They made a huge mistake in letting Kevin Brown go. Even the Gospel show on Sunday mornings is gone! We have to show them better than we can tell them. Everyone needs to boycott!

    ReplyDelete
  53. REALLY BIG LOSS for KBLX. Kevin Brown and his morning show was the ONLY reason I listened to KBLX, Please bring him back. You just lost a Loyal listener!!!! Guess i'll be listening to Estereo Sol...Here is a CRAZY but true story, KBLX lets go of Kevin Brown! WTF!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Kblx sucks now! Time to find a new station.

    ReplyDelete
  55. KBLX just lost me as a listener... and I have enjoyed this station since the beginning. The team of Kevin, Niki, and Joe have made my morning commute enjoyable for years. I am sad to see it end... guess I will be tuning in to other stations... hoping to find Kevin somewhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Cousin Kev was KBLX's morning show. As far as I am concerned, there is no longer any kind of morning program. I am now searching other stations hoping to find Cousin Kev is still alive and broadcasting in his unique style. Loved the morning team - Kevin, Joe, and Nikki... but let's face it... Kevin was the element that put a special spin on the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Boy I tell ya Black People cant have nothing!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I listen to the show every day I look forward to Monday dealing with relationships each day strange stories on Fridays the Catfish I listen to it few times I hate it tell Steve Harvey go home and bake some cookies!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Kevin Brown will be missed from KBLX listners. Those who are up in arms with Mr.Harvey may want to re-think bad comments toward him instead address KBLX with more postive ways to bring our favorite morning host back.
Kevin* Miss your laughs, you made my mornings so much better.
P.S Steve Harvey bring new engery to the station also.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Entercom's takeover of KBLX may have been given the green light by the U.S. Bankruptcy Copurt, but as far as I know, as of today (May 10), it has yet to be approved by the Federal Communications Commission, which has sole authority to approve broadcast licenses.

I've heard nothing about the FCC approving the transfer of KBLX's license to Entercom, have you?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sad, sad, sad. I'm a 53 yr old SF native that has been a loyal KBLX listener since the '80's. The hilarious trio of Kev, Nicki & Joe have kept me entertained during my morning commute for years. I was just explaining to my hubby the other day about the astrology guy & how he's been on KBLX since I can remember. As lame as his stuff is, I still stayed loyal to KBLX because of their originality & their ability to keep me interested. I'm still in shock & soooooooo disappointed. I'm done with KBLX & will join the other listeners in following Cousin Kev wherever he may go. Rock on Nicki, Joe & Antoine. Thanks for some reallly fun memories.

    ReplyDelete
  62. This is a travesty! Cuz Kevin, Nickki, and Joe's chemistry can't be bought, nor replaced. These corporations don't think about how these radio personalities are truly the bright spot in peoples day. I have been listening to this morning show for years and its disheartening to realize that they, that have been a staple in our community, won't be back. The morning show worked so well because they actually lived in and were apart of the community that they talked to. I'm really considering starting a movement to bring the morning show back. We, the consumers have to realize our power; with no us there is no them. Boycott KBLX! ITS no disrespect to Steve Harvey, because i love him too, however, Kevin had been loyal to the Bay Area for years, and we should show that same love and remain loyal to him! KBLX listeners unite and bring Cousin Kev back!

    ReplyDelete
  63. What a surprise to turn on the radio and expect to hear what you have known and loved for years and find it is gone. KBLX may have added a new format for the morning which they think will bring in more people but all they have done is loose a ton of listeners. Me for one!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. As Gomer Pyle would say, "Shame Shame Shame on you KBLX!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. OMG, what have they done? Cousin Kevin Brown has been my morning companion for YEARS . . . who is going to take his place, not Steve Harvey. KBLX has lost a loyal listener!! I will boycott KBLX unless they bring back the morning show with Cousin Kevin, Niki and Joe. Shame on you, KBLX!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I just saw a caption that states "Has KBLX set up their own demise". I would say YES!!!! No disrespect to Steve Harvey or people who carry a strong faith but I don't want to hear Steve for 12 minutes giving me a spiritual message. I thinks it's insensitive and disgraceful.....is Steve now a preacher???? California is NOT part of the bible belt....we are a liberal state. This program change definitely DOES NOT have anything to do with the Bay Area. The whole program has no flow to it, how do go from a 12 minute sermon to Hollywood Minute??? It's a disgrace...I critiqued and I will now go to Sirius radio for Smooth Jazz. This is a HUGE disrespect to the Bay Area, Kevin Brown and Antoine Davis.....I hope they are somewhere laughing....this is a complete JOKE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I couldn't believe it when I heard it, and for the first time I listened yesterday morning.....BOOOOOOOOO!!! What the hell is this "Strawberry Letter" crap!! How dare you try and replace the "Love Doctor" with that BS!!! I will no longer listen to KBLX which really saddens me because this was my favorite station, but to get rid of Kevin is a travesty!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm so ticked off at whoever made this STUPID decision!!! I HATE any kind of talk show in the morning and yet Kevin Brown was the only thing that always got my day started right!! I've have tried the "new" KBLX.....it's NOT KBLX!! The three times i tried to listen to it, I'm back to hating it and keeping hoping that when I tune in I'll hear Kevins voice again like he's been on a long vacation! I offically took 102.9 off my set radio stations today! For the LOVE OF GOD bring him BAAACCCKKKK!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. With all due respect to Steve Harvey, his morning show is just not good. Every word that comes out of his mouth is not funny. However, his morning team hangs on every expression as though it were hilarious. (Kind of reminds me of the Ed McMahon fake laugh to everything Johnny said on the Tonight Show back in the day). His format does showcase different celebrities and a different format. And I am sure that projected ratings and hoped for increased listeners will generate $$ initially anyway, in the form of advertisers. But the show does not fit the market here nor compares to what Kevin Brown brings to the community. Kevin's morning show was VERY GOOD ADULT morning entertainment. Since the change, I no longer listen the station at all.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I love Kevin Brown too. The Love Doctor was so interesting. What a classy guy. I love Nikki Thomas and Joe McConnell. This makes no sense...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Where the heck is Kevin Brown? Has some other stations picked up this great talent? Somebody must have an update?

    ReplyDelete
  72. very, very unhappy with this station since kevin brown is gone.I guess I will listen to another station now. 98.1
    see ya!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just found out about the "new" KBLX. To be honest, I had stop listening to FM radio a year ago and switched to satellite radio. I use to listen to cousin Kevin Brown every day for years and through the years the show had gotten stale. It was the same format day in and day out that I could repeat it in my sleep along with cousin Brown's phoney laugh. And the music line up was so outdated. I love the old school music but they played the short list of songs. Also an equal mix of the latest music would have been nice. I would have to listen to New York or other stations just to know what the new R&B music was. Having local personalities lead a radio station has its pluses but those personalities can become too comfortable and out-dated. It is important for an entertainer to keep their self "fresh" and the Kevin Brown show did not do that. Sometimes change is good, even though it is hard.
