Raheem DeVaughn Jumps Over to Majic 102.3 for New Night Show "Garden of Love"

Raheem DeVaughn is returning to the Washington radio dial, this time joining Majic 102.3 with a new nighttime program, “Garden of Love.” Radio One D.C. announced that DeVaughn will host the show Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to midnight. DeVaughn made the announcement during an appearance on The Vic Jagger Midday Show and The Russ Parr Show. Garden of Love will be syndicated to Radio One stations in Baltimore, Richmond, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.

The move comes shortly after DeVaughn's exit from 96.3 WHUR in September, where he most recently hosted the station's Original Quiet Storm. WHUR announced DeVaughn as the show's new host in 2024, bringing the longtime DMV R&B artist into one of the region's most recognizable radio programs.

DeVaughn's move to Majic also comes as WHUR's evening programming remains in transition following his departure and the recent passing of longtime WHUR personality Angela Stribling. Stribling, who was 68, had been a prominent voice at the station and was the first woman to host the Original Quiet Storm. WHUR has continued to honor her contributions to the program and the station. Stribling's voice is being tracked on breaks, along with the station's imaging voice Rick Party during The Quiet Storm. (This may be a sensitive choice for some. However WDAS FM in Philadelphia still uses the voice of Butterball during some breaks on their Sunday Night Oldies show hosted by Patty Jackson. Joe "Butterball" Tamburro passed away in 2012.)

For Majic 102.3, DeVaughn brings both radio experience and an established connection to the station's R&B audience. His background in the genre is extensive, having built a successful recording career beginning in the early 2000s. DeVaughn released his debut album, The Love Experience, in 2005, followed by Love Behind the Melody in 2008. The latter produced several of his best-known songs, including “Woman” and “Customer” and earned him Grammy nominations.

“Garden of Love” gives DeVaughn another opportunity to combine his experience as an R&B artist with his background in broadcasting, while giving Majic a familiar DMV voice for its evening audience. The show will launch on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 7 p.m.
