Allison Seymour Says Farewell FOX 5 DC After 21 Years, Hubby Marc Clarke Speaks on New Beginnings
Today marks the last day for longtime Washington, D.C. morning news anchor Allison Seymour at FOX 5 DC WTTG-TV. She has anchored the Fox Morning News/Good Day DC for many years and arrived at the station as a general assignment reporter in 1999. A retrospective report of her career at FOX 5 is included in her farewell at the bottom of the page.
Also today Allison's husband veteran radio personality Marc Clarke released a video on a number of topics. One of those topics is reinventing oneself. He also spoke about his most recent release from Howard University's 96.3 WHUR along with his wife as afternoon hosts on the station. They were paired together in February 2019. They exited the station on July 15, 2020.
Ratings in the afternoon were reportedly down in the 25-54 demo, however the station itself finished second in the DMV in the most recent overall ratings. The afternoons in D.C.are dominated by Donnie Simpson over at Majic 102.3/92.7. The Frank Ski Show re-launched this week at WHUR. He was last on the air there in 2015.
Here are Marc's thoughts. Most times radio personalities don't get an opportunity or are hesitant to express their thoughts after a firing.
Here is Allison's announcement on Fox 5THANK YOU! FOX 5 says farewell to Allison Seymour after 21 years https://t.co/PIBgaJCUI1 #GoodDayDC— FOX 5 DC (@fox5dc) August 7, 2020
In my 20 years at Fox 5 I worked with 100’s of people but no one as nice as Allison. When people stopped me on the street they would always leave me by saying “say hi to Allison for me”. Viewers loved her and we did too. Good luck @DCAllisontv https://t.co/tfnhU0nPdg— Paul Wagner (@paulcwagner) August 7, 2020
I am sad that Allison Seymour is leaving Fox5 News. Allison has been a driving reason for me faithfully watching the Mighty Fox 5 morning crew. I think I 1st met her at her father's church long before her incredible career. I wish her nothing but Happiness!!! https://t.co/tuuP9y0Pc9 pic.twitter.com/YNzg5T2fHW— Baba-C (@Babacgms) August 7, 2020
This was a tough goodbye to watch today. After 21 yrs, my friend and colleague Allison Seymour is leaving Fox 5 News. To say I’m sad is an understatement. She has been my rock and confidant, and I will truly miss her. Please join me in wishing her the best❤️ @DCAllisontv pic.twitter.com/cXhkYUuJNJ— Maureen Umeh (@MaureenUmehFox5) August 7, 2020

One door closes. Another door opens up.
ReplyDeleteNo more reason to watch Fox 5 Morning News. Angie Goff,REALLY !
ReplyDeleteThere is no chemistry between Angie Goff and the rest of the regular crew. It's just not the same.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see her go. It's so ironic they have the picture showing her with the postal worker. I say that because her last day also happened to have been his birthday; he's my husband. We have always admired her genuine kindness towards all mankind. My husband was filled with joy when she was the person that came to the station that day. She was our favorite news person. May God open the doors that will lead Allison and her family to their heart's desires.
ReplyDeleteNo more Fox5 in the morning for me. In my opinion, Allison was the glue that held everything together. I wish you many bright blessings and hold on to God's unchanging hand. He's got you, Soror.
ReplyDeleteI only watched fox 5 news because of Allison Seymour. She is a outstanding reporter, great personality and she connected well with her viewers. No more Fox 5 in the morning for me. It's not the same with Allison Seymour gone but not forgotton.
ReplyDeleteI am a Baltimore native ... and Bro. Marc has a solid show up there... In order to compete with the likes of Donnie Simpson... who owns DC radio pretty much... Clarke should have bought in local comedian like Chris Thomas... Huggie ... Tommy Davidson... or even Tigger.
ReplyDeleteAllison is a TV fixture in DC...so he should have left her doing great there...She can't work around the clock for you my brother... Keep at it Marc...you are great on radio but leave the wife in her solid TV lane...
What!!! 😭😭😭. THIS IS VERY HEARTBREAKING. I have been watching Fox 5 and Allison ever since she was on with Dale. This is unbelievable. Will miss her and not sure if I will continue with Fox. Something doesn’t seem right with this 🤔
ReplyDeleteAllison was the main reason I watched Fox 5 Morning News. I loved the way she and Steve (and sometimes Tucker) would match in the mornings. Allison was the brightest star on the morning show. I will surely miss her and probably now I will switch and look at Tony and Annie.
ReplyDeleteI really miss seeing and hearing Allison on the Fox 5 Morning News. She always displayed such care and empathy for her fellow human and seemed to hold her colleagues to their highest level of professionalism. I'm not that thrilled about Angie Goff BUT I'll take her over Erin Como who seems too fake and involved with her own self. I now limit my viewing time and do more muting whenever Erin comes on!
ReplyDeleteI watched Fox 5 every morning but now Since Allison I've only watched it 2 or 3 times. I will not be watching Fox 5 anymore. She made the cast a family. I will be watching ABC 7 in the morning going forward. My household will truly miss Allison.
ReplyDeleteFox5 has made a big mistake, what a wonderful person.Angie Goff and Erin Como will not save your ratings, they know nothing about family and compassion for people.Best wishes toAllison and her beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like channel 4,7,9 and now 5 prefer Asian reporters as opposed to #ADOS. Why is it that we're always pushed to the bottom of the totem pole? Allison please go and take Gail's job and save her from further embarrassment. LOL One question though, How do you get relieved from two position in one week? SMH.
ReplyDeleteWhy fix something that's not broken
