The Michael Baisden Show is Out at 96.3 WHUR
The Michael Baisden Show has been dropped from the programming schedule at 96.3 WHUR FM in Washington, D.C. Baisden has been off the air for about a week and all mentions of his show have been removed from the WHUR website. WHUR having recently parted ways with program director Hector Hannibal, has decided to go in a new direction with their afternoon programming. With the departure of WHUR, Atlanta's Mix 87.7, a Low-Power FM station, is Michael Baisden's only affiliate in a Top 10 radio market. The show is still heard in more than 40 medium and small-sized markets across the country with co-hosts George Wilborn and KJLH's Dominique DiPrima.
When the reincarnation of "The Bad Boy of the Radio" occurred in January of 2017, WHUR was the highest rated and most listened to station that became an affiliate of the show. Co-host George Wilborn even left WHUR as part of the local afternoon show with Tony Richards and Mo Ivory to join forces with Baisden once again. The original show once known as "Love, Lust, and Lies" was dropped by it's first syndication company Cumulus/ABC Radio in 2013.
In what direction will WHUR go? There are several options out there including syndication, but staying local will probably be their best choice. The station faces stiff competition from radio legend Donnie Simpson, whose show airs on Majic 102.3 and 92.7 in the DMV. Saturday night Hang Suite host Wes Hall is holding down the afternoon show for now.
I really hate it when changes are made and you give the listners no explanation as to what happen.
ReplyDeleteI agree. WHUR NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER AND STOP TEASING THEIR AUDIENCE.
DeleteMICHAEL, you do you. It would be great if you had your own company and could avoid this yo-yo treatment.
Don't worry Michael, I will tune these Atlanta stations out and I will listen to you on the baisden app. I'm tired of the slapstick buffoonery and choose to be treated like I have a brain.
Deletewhur sold out and canceled the show. I guess their masters didn't want all of that get out to vote stuff so close to an election
ReplyDeleteYou are likely right about that. Corporate citizens can't tolerate an educated public.
DeleteWHUR just lost a listener by just dropping Michael Baisden show with no explanation. Bye bye
ReplyDeleteI agree. This was an adult show which I enjoyed. I'm not feeling Donnie too boring.
DeleteSame here!!! I just renewed my sirius xm radio.
DeleteI loved listening to that show on my drive home from work. Why no explanation
ReplyDeleteThat is a disappointment. I always looked forward to listening. You have lost me in the afternoons for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks WHUR! I have no idea why you brought Michael Baisden back in the first place. His show had not evovled since you first dropped him. Same lame topics discussed! Bravo Bravo! Now I don't have to change the station after the Midday Show.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Just breezed by while in traffic and realized he was gone- now I can reset the station back. Wasn't a fan!
DeleteI agree with Anonymous and Unknown, I could't understand why thy bought him back. Same platform nothing new. Except if this is possible at all he was even more chauvinist!!
DeleteDisappointed once again. Howard is Republican school and this close to election time...you do the math. Donnie Simpson will be #1 with no competation
ReplyDeleteI think they should put D.L. Hughley show on. He took Baisden's slot on majic 95.9 when Mike first got cancelled in 2013. D.L. show is really good. I have to listen to it on the app. WHUR should pick it up.
ReplyDeleteBring in DL Hughley to your station.
DeleteDL Hughley took over many of Michael Baisden Stations from across the country. Bring in DL Hughley.
DeleteGlad its gone.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with how they handled it, but I'm glad he's gone! He was so irritating to listen to, he always talked over people and was so arrogant.
ReplyDeleteBad move, WHUR!
ReplyDeleteI am so disappointed the show was very informative it should be back on the air
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Michael Baisden show, and immediately realized he was no longer on air. I searched the Internet for some explanation some weeks ago (21 October), but found no explanation. What a shame... Mr. Baisden made for good radio, and is aware (or "woke" as the children say now, like they invented "wokeness"). We all need to teach the children.
ReplyDeleteI AM DONE!
ReplyDeleteThis is an out rage. Bring him back
ReplyDeleteWe want Michael Baisden back
ReplyDeleteWhat happen to Michael Baisden show. We loved his topics. Good time listen on way home
ReplyDeleteNo explanation no nothing
I'm glad they took off the Michael Baisden Show, now they need to take off the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
ReplyDeleteYou need to change the station you listen to
DeleteAmen to take Steven Harvey OFF!!! and D.L Hugley. Time for new platforms
DeleteI think George would be good. Please remove Harvey ...
DeleteThis is the 2nd time my mother and I only came back as listeners to WHUR for his show. We hate the hang suite.
ReplyDeleteYeah...but why???
ReplyDeleteThat was stupid to cancel Michael Baisden Show, Whur Already Has Stiff Competition With Donnie Simpsons Show and Satellite Radio At The 3pm to7pm Time Slot..
ReplyDeleteIs this what they call Ghosting?? A little warning would've been nice. After a long day at work I can appreciate a little adult dialogue and laughter. I can't go back to boring radio. I just can't. I'll listen to my own playlist and "The Daily Drum" on the ride home.
ReplyDeleteGlad Baisden is gone. DL Hughley is much better. I agree with previous commenter. Sack Steve Harvey show also
ReplyDeleteSACK all three of them!!!
DeleteIt was time for change Michael Baisdon show was too negative and in my opinion kept black people stuck. He offered no solutions didn't appeared to approach situation serious enough .... everything was a joke ....
ReplyDeleteMy ride home belongs to Sirius XM now!
ReplyDeleteMichael Baisden was a great show. I wish you would have done a survey of what your listeners wanted.
ReplyDeletePlease bring him back!!!!!!!!!
He was great for the community!!!!!
I guess it's Willie Mo for me Now!!!!!!!
Stop disrespecting your listeners by making changes without any explanation. I like that show.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you people feel WHUR OWE'S YOU and EXPLANATION?? It's business. If the show is loosing ratings or if it's just plain crap it's off the air. You are GROWN PEOPLE!! Exercise your right to change the station or not!
DeleteI am VERY DISAPPOINTED in WHUR!! You definitely lost another listener. You've brought back drab, plain ole radio. We need a show that will keep us abreast of the things that the typical media don't speak on much. One who will be candid about issues that affect us, and who's not scared to voice his opinion. Yes, he walked the line a bit with certain subject matter, but typically kept it real! He brought political issues, racial issues, relationship issues and other topics of substance to the forefront like NO other host!! I just listen through his phone app now but you really need to BRING HIM BACK!! No disrespect to your current host but for this time slot, you've digressed!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!!!
DeleteI will not be listening to 96.3 anymore!
ReplyDeleteIt is coincidental that they took him off after the fundraiser. Surely had they done it before they knew donations would be low. SMH.
ReplyDelete1st Tom Joyner, Now Michael Baisden..it's like losing friends. I looked forward to hearing their voice daily, now it hurts.. I'll now listen to my playlist and I'll regret not being informed and educated by two Brother's who lifted my spirits daily
ReplyDeleteSure, i'm surprised too he is gone. I enjoyed most of the subject matter although not so much the music.
ReplyDeleteABOUT TIME!! NOTHING DIFFERENT FROM WHEN HE LEFT WHUR THE FIRST TIME!! BET YOU A MILLION BUCKS HIS RATINGS SUCKED! NO STATION CAN SUPPORT A SHOW WITH SUCKING RATINGS!! PD'S GET FIRED WHEN THAT HAPPENS!
ReplyDeleteSo glad he is gone. Sorry George went with him
ReplyDeleteThis is horrible! I loved listening to the show in the afternoons. WHUR is so boring now in the afternoon. Will be listening to Donnie now.
ReplyDeleteI liked the show more this 2nd time. I did like Tony, Mo and George better. I miss it but still listen to whur. I didn't listen daily so of course I noticed weeks later he was gone. The time I spend commuting is brief so not listening much to live radio, prefer Spotify where I can listen to what I want.
ReplyDeleteWow. I listened to Michael on my long drive home from work. I just realized some boring guy was on and Googled it. I think Michael was too vocal about getting us out to vote and against Trump. Shane on WHUR.
ReplyDeleteThat's likely what happened, uninformed public is preferred. I remember years ago WTOP suddenly disappeared Stephanie Miller in the same way. I was like WTH.
DeleteI no longer work afternoons, listening to Baisden's show on the way, so it's taken me all this time to realize the show was gone! I preferred his show to D.L. Hughley, but I prefer Spotify or even watching personalities go live on Facebook or Youtube.
ReplyDeleteIm done with WHUR for not telling listeners. Thank god for the APP. Mije keep doubg your thing. FAN FOR LIFE!!!!
ReplyDeleteWHUR has for the second time, disappointed the afternoon audience. The energy and love that Micheal had coming back after being dumped previously was great. He had a great attitude and a lot of love for the people. You all knew that you couldn't replace him. Having no program in the after has made me just do paid radio. I hate that you took your listeners for granted. Shows us how unstable and petty your staff and decision makers are. You had the best radio person ever---and I didnot agree with all his ideas but I was a faithful listener who was left hanging with no explanation. I just downloaded the Micheal Baisden app.....so I will still listen. Winning......juus sayin.....
ReplyDeleteYour station has lost me without Micheal you have cheated me out of an afternoon commute.
ReplyDeletehe has sometimes hard to listen to with his options on relationships. I always use to say to myself , I hope my man does not listen to this . I would have loved just listening to George, he was always a voice of reason w/o making it seems as if his opinion on anything was other than just a opinion.
ReplyDeleteHaven't listened to WHUR in months. Didnt realize Baisden was no more. Interesting on WHUR's part. Michael Baisden's show was not much different at all from when he got dropped the first time. Same topics, games, etc. Hmmmmm... Put EZ Street on in the afternoon! EZ has a HUGE following in the DMV and has done afternoon radio before at WKYS. Perfect solution!
ReplyDeleteHey EZ...how you been? I'd like you hear you in the afternoons again as well.
DeleteWHUR JUST bring back the Neo Soul hits y'all guys used to play.
ReplyDeleteI love the Steve Harvey show. Micheal is very immature for his age but I perfer Michael over the new radio host at 3pm he is Boring!!!! I won't listen to him. I just found out Michael was gone.
