Viral Weathercaster Shelbi Schauble is Moving On and Joining the Meteorology Team at Cleveland News 19
Shelbi Schauble, the viral weathercaster on social media and one who fashions herself as a present day Hillary Banks, the character played by Karyn Parsons in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, announces a career move. After two years, in Joplin, Missouri, Schauble lands a major television gig in Cleveland. Joplin is ranked 151st out of the 210 United States television markets, whereas Cleveland is the 19th largest media market in the country. Quite a jump.
“I have some news to share! After two special years in Joplin, my last day on air will be tomorrow, July 3rd. I’m so thankful for my time in the Four States. Starting in August, I will be joining the weather team in Cleveland @cleveland19news as their newest weekday on-air meteorologist. All glory to God.”
Looks like she's pretty good at her job as witnessed by her summer temperature predictions from last March. See below.
Here is a bio:
Shelbi Schauble grew up in Los Angeles, where her fascination with weather began in 2007, when she was just six years old. That’s when Shelbi experienced the rarity of snow for the first time in Southern California. Then, her curiosity about the weather continued to develop as she spent much time outside in different micro-climates while running track and cross country over the years. In 2019, Shelbi decided to further her athletic & academic career at the University of California, Los Angeles.
While at UCLA, Shelbi took multiple Atmospheric & Oceanic Science classes that reintroduced her interest in weather & climatology. She became inspired by UCLA alum and historical Meteorologist, June Bacon-Bercey, the first female on-air meteorologist and the first African-American to earn an undergraduate degree in meteorology from UCLA.
Shelbi graduated with a degree in Public Affairs from UCLA in March of 2023. That same summer, she decided to start her meteorological journey and pursue a career as a broadcast meteorologist through the Mississippi State Broadcast Meteorology Certificate Program.
