WGIV- Charlotte kicks off “Take Back Our Communities One Neighborhood At A Time”
WGIV night time jock Tim Greene (lower right of photo, click photo for larger image) recently met with over 60 community leaders and concluded that everyone wanted safer communities and that radio could play a large part in fulfilling that need. So to kick off Black History Month and to go on throughout the year, Tim will broadcast his show live in local communities and showcase kids who want to do better, stay in school and give back to their communities. "WGIV has been in the community for over 63 years and what better way to continue that community connection" Say's Greene. The show has a large on-line audience so Tim plans to take the initiative to other cities as well with dates already locked in. 
WGIV is the best thing to happen to Charlotte radio in a long time. They add a second station with a local morning show, and overall it has the feel you get with independant community radio stations like those you hear in larger cities. The mix of programming is really nice.
