DJ Rane of WPGC's The Home Team sues CBS Radio for Sex Discrimination [VIDEO]
Ranelle Sykes is an afternoon personality on 95.5 WPGC in Washington, D.C. She is better known on the air as "DJ Rane" and she has a problem.
Sykes is suing CBS Radio for sex discrimination and for violating the Maryland Equal Pay Act to the tune of more than $200,000. Why? She holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and a juris doctorate degree from George Washington University's Law School, but is paid less than Flexx, the other half of "The Home Team," who holds a high school diploma.
This surely doesn't make for a cozy work environment does it?
Flexx has been a DC staple for years. He has songs to his credit, which in my opinion makes him more of a celebrity. Until her arriving on WPGC, nobody knew who tha hell she was. If you want more money, thats an issue in itself. But dont try to make it out to be about descrimination. Drop a song, and then see if your pay increases.
ReplyDeleteEven though Flexx brings more to the table and you don't need a law degree to be a radio personality, CBS will have a hard time proving why Rane is not paid the same. How did she find out? Somebody slipped.
ReplyDeleteWith all the credentials Rane hold , one would think perhaps she should have been able to negotiate a better contract for herself...however this is radio and be clear its not always about the paper however Talent is where its at!..i've been a listener for years and when flexx isnt on air...the vibe is different...how can i put this ....BORING! This is just a case where the hotter DJ wins...maybe she should try working in the front office! Who's an asset to the station?......Flexx run this city! & city loves it....sorry Rane!
ReplyDeleteShow her tha money mane! right on sistah.
