The Big Boss Moves Up to "Inspirational Format Director"
Elroy Smith, the Operations Manager of Radio One Philadelphia stations WPHI, WPPZ, and WRNB will join Senior Vice Prez of Programming Jay Stevens and Jerry Smith Radio One's Gospel Op Manager in overseeing all of Radio One's Gospel/Inspirational stations in the newly created position of inspirational format director.
“Elroy’s success as a program director in the secular world is unparalleled,” said Stevens. “In his new role Elroy will work with each station’s PD and programming team to maximize ratings and revenue opportunities.” Elroy, known to many listeners as "The Big Boss" on the air, has done a hell of ... oops, heck of... opps, let's just say he has done a nice job of programming Praise 103.9 WPPZ in Philadelphia. The station is at #6 in Philly, right behind heritage station WDAS which is tied at #4 with a Classic Rock station WMGK. Also 100.3 The Beat has moved ahead of Power 99 in overall ratings. That's impressive!
Elroy Smith will remain the Big Boss at Radio One in Philadelphia, but a new program director will be put in place at 100.3 The Beat.
First, Colby goes off the air and behind the scenes. Does this latest move mean he is now out of a job with Radio One?
