Nick Cannon Quits Morning Radio Show at 92.3 Now

Nick Cannon is stepping down as host of his daily radio morning show on WXRK 92.3 Now, citing doctor’s orders; Will continue with Cannon's Countdown and NBC's "America's Got Talent"

In a statement issued by Cannon, he said, “Under doctor’s orders, I have been asked to put my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments in order to allow my body to get the rest that it needs to keep up with the demands of my multi-tasking schedule.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with CBS RADIO and the 92.3 NOW morning show team and I would like to thank them for their unwavering support. I will continue to host my syndicated “Cannon’s Countdown” weekend show and look forward to contributing to 92.3 NOW whenever possible. Even Superman has to sleep.”

Nick Cannon
A bitter sweet morning. I have to stop my radio show. Doctors orders.

Last Friday, the 31-year-old “America’s Got Talent” host was in the hospital getting tests done when he was found to have two blood clots in his lungs, he told his 92.3 NOW listeners. “I also had an enlarged ventricle in my heart,” he said. Doctors discovered that Cannon’s immune system was attacking his organs, and that the condition was exacerbated by his extensive traveling. “That, on top of my previous condition, actually made me  more prone to this,” Cannon said. “If it isn’t one thing, it’s another.”

In January,  Cannon was hospitalized for mild kidney failure while he was vacationing with his wife, Mariah Carey, and their twins Morrocan and Monroe.  He was later transferred to a Los Angeles hospital to recover. At the time Carey tweeted to her fans, “We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful.”

After his recovery, Cannon spoke on his site of his new attitude towards life, saying, “I’m being patient, stopping and smelling the roses, keeping my family first.” Source

  1. It seems that when they hired non-radio people to do radio-- that radio gig is ALWAYS first to go!
