First Steve Harvey, Now Beyonce Pimpin' Black Women

The Fresh Xpress blog comes right out and says Steve Harvey and Beyonce are taking advantage of the recent media portrayals of single Black women. He uses Beyonce's latest video as proof.

What do you think?

After viewing the video, it's hard to just categorize the Beyonce video for "Why Don't You Love Me" as another negative image meant to exploit this "no good marriageable Black men" phenomenon that seems to be going on in America.

Beyonce's portrayal in the video is akin to the stereotypical late 1950's/early 1960's white American housewife, who is so bored with their existence, that they drink to ease the pain, while the husband goes to the office. So the video is set to appeal to mainstream America in a Lady Gaga style, rather than solely to Black women. Just as Steve Harvey's book became a best seller because it connected with MANY women across America; the Beyonce video is meant to do the same thing.

The video, which has been out for a few weeks, has yet to get the push from program directors on mainstream rhythmic radio across the country. We'll see how it will be received.
