Radio One Synergizes It's Web Content: WRNB's Mo'Shay Lauren Interviews Toni Braxton About "The Kiss" and Cougar Crushes
From the Hello Beautiful site, Toni Braxton sat down with Mo'Shay Lauren to speak about working in Las Vegas, her struggles with heart problems, her son's autism, kissing Trey Songz and her new album 'Pulse'.
Using their local on-air radio personalities just seems like a natural fit to provide web content to all of their sites. Mo'Shay Lauren is the midday personality at Radio One's Philadelphia Urban AC station WRNB and does a great job interviewing Toni Braxton in the following VIDEO.
Many may have questioned Radio One's purchased of Black Planet.com a couple of years ago, and admittedly that purchased may not have generated the buzz they were hoping for, but overall Radio One has made a concerted effort to improve its radio stations' websites and creating synergy among its many properties. That synergy even includes syndicated talk show host Rev. Al Sharpton having a Black Planet page (???) and also web partner Reach Media and the Black America Web.com site with content from the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The latter of which probably accounts for a lot of the company's web revenue.
However one criticism has to be the url names they have chosen to use for their radio stations. It's a bit mystifying. Check out the url's in various cities. If I'm looking for WKYS; wouldn't it be much easier to remember wkys.com than kysdc.com? It's much simpler in Baltimore: 92 Q is "92Q.com." Of course doing a google or bing search serves the same purpose.
Interactive One has done a commendable job to make their web presence even stronger, somewhere down the road Radio One may need to bring forth their web streaming app for mobile devices to compete with, CBS Radio and Clear Channel Radio "I Heart Radio."
