Dyana Williams Talks Black Music Month with The Breakfast Club

Dyana Williams talks with Angela Yee and DJ Envy about the power of Black Music, the National Museum Of African American Music which will be located in Nashville. ( Nashville? Dyana explains why this city was chosen), and much more.

During the interview Angela Yee asked Dyana Williams about her start in radio. Below is an aircheck of Dyana from 1973 at 96.3 WHUR on the evening show as host 'Ebony Moonbeams.' Her show was the precursor to The (Original) Quiet Storm. From there she went to 107.5 WBLS in 1975 as an on-air personality in her hometown of New York City. She settled in the Philadelphia area in 1980 and hosted programs on 105.3 WDAS FM and began her trek as one of the founders of Black Music Month along with one of the most important mentors in Black music artist development and media coaching.



The National Museum of African American Music will be a 56,000-square-foot facility that will encourage visitors to discover the central role African Americans have played in shaping and creating all genres of American music. From classical to country to jazz and hip hop, NMAAM will integrate history and interactive technology to share the untold story of more than 50 music genres and sub-genres. It will be an unparalleled institution, unconfined by record label, genre or recording artist, and tell a unique narrative through the lens of Black music.
