You. Can. Make. Money. Doing. A. Podcast. Yes you can get M's. Many M's. Wait...Charlamagne and Joe Budden are starting a podcast network? (This podcast is unedited.)
It was only a few years ago when popular Los Angeles radio and MTV personality Adam Carolla abandoned traditional media for a new thing called podcasting. He had the most listened to podcast. People asked, "Can you make money doing a podcast?" Carolla's answer back then was-- He wasn't making any money. He quite frankly hadn't figure out how to turn a profit doing a podcast.
Fast forward a few years and add in audio platforms like iHeartradio, Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, and so many others. Now almost every other person you know has a podcast. And Joe Rogan is now the podcast king. However...
One of the most popular podcast in the world is The Joe Budden Podcast. It's most definitely the number one podcast with the Hip Hop culture and beyond. His show has a two year contract with Spotify and has seven shows to go. He launched a 3 hour podcast and devoted a large part to in-depth reflection on his two years with Spotify. He says he doesn't 'have the most education, but he has knowledge, because what they (the people at Spotify) don't understand is he comes from music. He knows when people are lying.'
Joe Budden has changed the entire business model of podcasting, so much so that record labels want in. Listen and you'll understand the picture.
Joe Budden is set to launch his podcast on another audio platform (Digital Service Provider). He told listeners "September 23rd, I cannot tell you where this podcast will be, but as it stands I can tell you where it will not be, and that is Spotify."
