Former Hot 97 Morning Host Miss Jones Set to Launch New Podcast with Michael Shawn and DJ Envy
Sometime this month, Tarsha Jones, also known as Miss Jones and former morning host on Hot 97 is hinting on social media a reunion podcast with her former co-hosts Michael Shawn and DJ Envy. Check out the announcement on Instagram below. Jones an R&B singer who worked with and was discovered by Doug E, Fresh, became a top rated and controversial radio host in the shock jock era of hip hop radio in the 2000's. Her style was reminiscent of contemporaries Wendy Williams and Troi Torain of Star and Buc Wild.
Jones also known as "Jonesy" hosted mornings in Philadelphia at WUSL Power 99 FM, before heading to her native New York City and Hot 97. After her exit from Hot 97 she landed back in Philadelphia with Michael Shawn to host mornings at WPHI 103.9 The Beat. One of her most controversial bits was the "Tsunami Song" that mocked the deaths of thousands following a tsunami that hit the continent of Asia in 2005. She was known for her acerbic relationships with her co-workers off air as well. Jones' interviews with music artists and celebrities stirred up drama that listeners were attracted to each morning.
Comedian Michael Shawn is now based in the Dallas area after a long run as a co-host on the DeDe in the Morning syndicated show. DJ Envy remained at Hot 97 until 2008 when he left for afternoons at Power 105.1. In 2010, Envy teamed up with Angela Yee and Charlamagne tha God to form The Breakfast Club, which led to the three gaining overwhelming success as the preeminent Hip Hop morning radio show. The trio are now members of the Radio Hall of Fame.

Here is the audio of Jones and Miss Info, a co-host on the show, who is of Asian descent, going at it over the lyrics of the "Tsunami Song." Most of the members of the show were suspended for the bit by Emmis Broadcasting, the corporate owner of the station at the time.
And this was radio in 2005. Smackfest with Ebro, who was in management at the time and not a regular on-air personality, hosted these shenanigans.
