Tony Perkins Steps Away from Get Up DC, Will Continue Co-Hosting Afternoons on The Donnie Simpson Show
Morning anchor Tony Perkins announced to the GetUp DC and WUSA9 TV audience that he is leaving the Washington, D.C. CBS affiliate to spend more time with his family.
He told viewers in a video message from home, while recovering from Covid, that he realized it was time to go. His first stint at Fox 5 as weathercaster came in 1995 before going to ABC. He moved over to WUSA9 in 2019.
In 2017 Perkins joined The Donnie Simpson Show on Majic 102.3/92.7 WMMJ-FM as a co-host. Perkins, a former stand-up comedian first partnered with Donnie Simpson as a producer and co-host at WKYS in 1985. In the announcement Tony said he will continue to be heard on the radio in the afternoons on Majic 102.3/92.7.
