According to Dr. Ian Smith, "African Americans have arrived unceremoniously at the most critical health crossroads in our history.  It's incumbent upon all of us to be proactive and generous in the spreading of information and increasing access.  Doctor Day and the national buzz it generates are an important part of the solution in that they raise necessary awareness about a health crisis in this country that can have a profoundly detrimental effect on our very lives and those of future generations."

Joyner and the morning show crew are excited about this huge event and according to Tom Joyner, “What better city, than the city of brotherly love to launch the first national Take A Loved One To The Doctor Health Festival?  Now I hope that you all show me some love by coming out and supporting.”
