Around the Urban AC Radio Dial...

Syndication One talk show host Warren Ballentine told listeners last week that his show would lose it's Atlanta affiliate 102.5 Grown Folks Radio (WAMJ). The talk is that Steve Harvey and Michael Baisden would move to the new Grown Folks Radio at 107.5 FM, while Ballentine and Al Sharpton talk shows would not. At the moment WJZZ 107.5 is still a smooth jazz station, but it looks like any day now the format will change. (How about next Monday?)

Radio One is in an interesting situation in the Atlanta market. They own WAMJ, WJZZ, Syndication One and they have ownership/partnership with Reach Media which owns the Tom Joyner Morning Show. However they will use Steve Harvey to go up against Joyner in the ratings. Joyner has a iron-clad contract with the Cox owned Urban AC station, Kiss 104.1 (WALR), which just happened to finish #1 in the latest ratings survey in Atlanta.

With the new format of R&B of the 90's and Today on 107.9 WRNB Philadelphia, many listeners and fans of "Soulful Sundays" with Dyana Williams, thought the show would end it's run at the station. Dyana's throwback soul of the 60's, 70's and 80's remains and moves from Sunday afternoon to Sunday morning at 9AM.

Former Majic 104.9 (KMJM St. Louis) midday host Chaz Saunders has resurfaced in the midday slot at 860 WNOV in Milwaukee. The station streams, so her fans in St. Louis can catch her on-line. Chaz a big market talent was let go by the Clear Channel station more than a year ago after working in St. Louis radio for 20 years.
