Brian McKnight leaves the morning show at 94.7 The Wave

McKnight sites his inability to perform concerts during the week as the reason for his departure.

According to the following press release from Los Angeles' Smooth Jazz station KTWV 94.7 The Wave, Brian McKnight will continue to periodically appear on the morning show and will contribute to other Wave projects and events.

This makes the second radio gig that McKnight has lost. He was working simultaneously as the syndicated evening host for Citadel at 98.7 Kiss FM in New York with Lenny Green until last January while doing the morning show in L.A. You can still catch Brian McKnight on his own TV talk/variety show. Have you seen it?

Here's the press release 94.7 The Wave:
Longtime Southern California morning personality Kim Amidon will partner with Pat Prescott as the hosts of the morning show on 94.7 The WAVE (KTWV-FM) beginning on Monday, May 17. They’ll be performing weekdays from 6 – 9:00 a.m. PT.

In making the announcement, KTWV program director Jhani Kaye called Amidon one of the most relatable personalities in the industry. “Kim is a perfect fit for The Wave’s audience and is sure to attract many of her former listeners. Together Pat and Kim will add a local flavor to the show as they both have the unique ability of making every listener feel like they’re in the car right alongside with them.”

Amidon has been hosting weekend programs on The Wave since February. She cohosted the highly-rated morning show on Los Angeles station KOST-FM for 22 years. “I’m thrilled to return to mornings and I invite all of my former listeners to tune in,” Amidon said. “I’m passionate about the music we play and it’ll be lots of fun to co-host mornings with Pat Prescott who I admire so much. We plan to present the most relatable morning show for adults on the radio.”

Current morning show co-host Brian McKnight will continue to periodically appear on the program and will contribute to other Wave projects and events. McKnight is an accomplished R&B recording artist and also hosts a self-titled television talk show. Amidon was raised in Southern California. In addition to her legendary run at KOST she has worked for L.A. stations KRTH, KHJ, KUTE, KACE and KOLA. She has a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has won several major broadcasting awards during her career.
