Al Sharpton interviews Tom Joyner as they set to lead Washington D.C. March for Jobs


Joyner says, "Black radio [back then] is no different than it is today... I just have a bigger platform. I'm local in 115 cities but I'm still local."

BlackAmericaWeb.com- On Aug. 27, the day before the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall, the Rev. Al Sharpton and radio personality Tom Joyner will lead a rally and a march to the site to call for jobs, just as King did during the 1963 March on Washington.

“The people on the ground are hurting. People are hurting all over this country, and they are looking at what is happening in Washington, D.C., and they’re saying, ‘Hey, what about us?’” Joyner said in an interview with Sharpton on MSNBC last week.

When King and other civil rights, community and union leaders rallied in Washington on Aug. 28, 1963, the call was for jobs and economic equality. It was there, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, that King delivered the iconic “I Have a Dream" speech. Click here to read more...
