The Big Tigger Morning Show is Out at 95.5 WPGC
Big Tigger has exited CBS Radio's Washington, D.C. urban contemporary station 95.5 WPGC
Big Tigger, whose given name is Darian Morgan has been a part of WPGC for many years. He started as an intern at WPGC back in the early 90's while a student at the University of Maryland, working with legendary D.C. jock Al B. Dee and eventually landing the night show in 1996. He moved on to become a host on various BET shows including 106 & Park along with the syndicated weekend countdown show "In the Den with Big Tigger." He also hosted mornings and afternoons at Power 105.1 in New York City as well. He returned to WPGC in the mid 2000s for afternoons and then was tapped to replace long time morning host Donnie Simpson about a year and half ago. Check out his tweets below.
For the time being current co-host and former 106& Park host Free will hold down mornings. Tigger tweeted that he was not fired and that it was a mutual parting of the ways. For the record we expect WPGC to lean even more to the rhythmic side in their music playlist to compete with Clear Channel's Hot 99.5. ...And by the way today is Tigger's birthday.

ReplyDeleteThis was bound to happen sooner than latter. He wasn't a good fit for the station's morning drive slot. I feel that Donnie Simpson should have stayed at the station there because there has been a void in the spot of being a 'lead personality'.
ReplyDeleteIt was a PPM ratings thing same issue that cost Donnie his job. Tigger`s overall rating were not good plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteI realize that, but the lack of stable management at WPGC at the time is really what cost Donnie Simpson his job more so than PPM itself. Jay Stevens had vacated in early 2007 then Skip Dillard came in and left within a year then Rob Scorpio, whom was the best of the ones during that era and had history with WPGC, but was drove out by Sam Rodgers. Michael Saunders was the one that pushed Donnie out because he wanted to micromanage the station when Donnie was used to doing his own thing. However, when Saunders was in charge WPGC had hit a ratings all time low because of his dysfunctional style of handling a station to that caliber of being a urban-rhythmic hybrid.
