Funkmaster Flex and DJ Clue Set Off New York City Radio Battle [AUDIO]
New York City hip hop radio personalities Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97 and Power 105.1's DJ Clue have set off a radio war of words over ratings and who gets the exclusive tracks to play over the Big Apple's airwaves.
Radio DJ's going at each other, which was once popular across many markets, is now rare due to the simple fact that large media corporations have come to frown upon the negativity that comes from it. Also with many stations running syndicated programs the opportunities to engage in on-air battle are limited. Besides how many local radio DJ's get a chance to say much more that a few liners between songs or before a commercial break anyway. However the number one media market in the U.S. is a whole other battleground. In New York egos can run amok.
It was Funkmaster Flex who fired the first shot by claiming he intercepted an email intended for DJ Clue, containing an exclusive track featuring Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz's latest single, "Beez in the Trap." He says he gets the records in New York City first. Also at issue are the latest ratings where DJ Clue night show bested Flex. During some of Flex's on-air rants he claims Clue is a friend of his (the two were co-workers at one time at Hot 97), but says even (New York's under achieving baseball team) the Mets win sometimes too.
Listen to the back and forth below...
DJ Clue also went to Twitter and tweeted the following:
So this Fat Old dude saying he hacked my email & took a record that never got emailed to me?#CompulsiveLiar

Funkmaster Flex continued his rant last Friday evening on Hot 97
