Dr. Dave Ferguson the "Voice" of Urban Radio
For station imaging picking the "right" station voice between songs, before, and after commercial breaks is critical. Think of the most successful stations in your city and how important the role of the voice over announcer plays. The right voice helps to bolster ratings and sets the tone of the station for listeners. Most importantly, during those times when new personalities are introduced, there is no better way to introduce them than to hear it coming from the familiar voiceover guy (or girl....Let's be politically correct here).
On many stations around the country those drops are from one of the most recognizable voiceover guys in radio, "Dr. Dave" Ferguson. His roster of stations include: 92.3 Now (WXRK) in New York; 98-7 AMP Radio (WDZH) in Detroit; Kiss FM (WKSC) in Chicago; V-103 (WVEE) in Atlanta; 97.9 The Beat (KBFB) in Dallas; Power 99 (WUSL) in Philadelphia, among many others. His voice-over career started in 1987 at WPGC in Washington, D.C.
