Milwaukee Black Talk Radio Station 1290 WMCS Tops Nation in Arbitron Listeners
From Rob Redding of Redding News Review- Milwaukee's 1290 WMCS-AM tops list of 14 black talk radio stations in Arbitron performance, according to a study conducted by BlackTalkers.com.
(The ratings represent the share or percntage of listeners tuned in to a particular station based on 100%. Arbitron has various methods to measured listeners. Some markets use the electronic PPM device while some areas in the country use a diary filled out by a survey of selected "random" listeners.)
Milwaukee's longtime talker WMCS is currently the best performing black talk formatted radio station in the country, according to Arbiton. Arbitron is considered the best at measuring audience levels for radio stations.
BlackTalkers.com found WMCS outperformed Radio One-owned Cincinnati's The Buzz 1230 WDBZ-AM and Atlanta's CBS Radio-owned News & Talk 1380 WAOK-AM.
WAOK was in a tie with Detroit's Radio One-owned News Talk WCHB 1200 AM/99.9 FM. The tie was broken by market rank.
