PHILADELPHIA – August 27, 2013 – Clear Channel Communities, the community engagement brand of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, and Power 99 FM, Philadelphia’s top-rated Hip Hop and R&B radio station, today announced the final event of the 2013 Peace on the Street Jams, a series of antiviolence activities designed to promote peace and provide communities with the necessary resources to prevent violence.  The event will take place Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Chester Park in Chester, PA, and will feature artists Bridget Kelly, B. Smyth, and local sensation Gillie da Kid. Presenting sponsor is the City of Chester, Chester Drug Free Communities Coalition and Crozer Keystone Health System.

This summer’s events included successful Peace on the Street Jam at Penns Landing that drew thousands for performances by Ace Hood, Seveyn Streeter with a special appearance by Big Sean.  The listeners were also treated to inspirational speakers and a performance by the Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement. The August 29 performances are the final installment in a series of 2013 summer events to promote peace.

“Power 99 continuously strives to positively impact our local communities, and the Peace on the Street Jam series is an example of how we continually work with the music industry, local organizations and our listeners to improve our neighborhoods,” said Loraine Ballard Morrill, Director of News and Community Affairs, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Philadelphia.  “Together we are making neighborhoods safer for area residents and their families.”

Event Performers:

Roc Nation recording artist Bridget Kelly recently released her new single, “Street Dreamin” featuring Kendrick Lamar.  The BET Music Matters Artist composed Kelly Clarkson’s “Einsten,” a song from the 2011 album Stronger, and performs with Jay-Z in place of Alicia Keys to sing “Empire State Of Mind.”  Bridget Kelly will perform songs from her 2013 album Something Different, including “Goosebumps” and “Street Dreamin.”

YouTube sensation B Smyth is a rising R&B singer and Florida native.  In 2012 he was discovered through his video covers of songs by Michael Jackson, Frank Ocean and Usher, and was signed to Motown Records.  B Smyth will perform singles “Leggo” featuring 2 Chainz, “Win Win” featuring Future and more.

Gillie Da Kid is a local rapper from Philadelphia’s underground Hip Hop community.  He founded Major Figgas, a rap group out of northern Philadelphia, and moved on to pursue acting and a solo rap career.  Gillie Da Kid’s songs include “Tryna Get Me One” featuring Pusha T, “Get Down On da Ground,” “Wassup” featuring Cyssero and Meek Mill, and his latest single, “King Me,” was released in July 2013.

The final Peace on the Street Jam will be hosted by Power 99 FM jocks and feature performances by Power 99 FM’s Dance Squad, led by Mina SayWhat of The Rise and Grind Morning Show, Power 99 FM’s DJ Diamond Kuts and the Camden Sophisticated Sisters drill team, a dance group that made their national debut on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
