Radio One Richmond Sues Twitter and Former Employee Henny Hardaway
According to a report by multiple industry sources and the lawsuit filed by Urban One, the parent company of Radio One Richmond Virginia:
Amir Shabazz (known as “Henny Hardaway” on the air) was fired last month by iPower 92.1 (WCDX). Radio One’s lawsuit says he worked fast. “Sometime between the evening of Friday, August 11 and the morning of Saturday, August 12, Shabazz used iPower Richmond’s confidential information to access its Twitter account.”
The lawsuit states he changed the user name from “iPowerRichmond” to ‘RealTalkofVa.” He not only tweeted using that account, he allegedly “communicated lewd and/or pornographic material.” Then he deleted the posts and changed the name to “HennyTalk75.” WCDX had 12,500 Twitter followers, and in the suit, it values each one at $2.50 a month and claims economic harm along with the hijacking. Radio One says “Henny” promoted his own Shabazz Media Group and created a new account with the username ‘iPowerRichmond’ making it unavailable for a period of time to iPower92 and Radio One.
As far as we can tell the @iPowerRichmond twitter account lost all of it's follower during the heist. At the time the company says iPower had 12,500 followers. The station uses this handle to promote and link to this Twitter page. They now have regained 5 followers. Only 3 legit followers.
It seems that some safeguards should have been put into place after the firing of the employee.
