Drake includes an old WBLK air-check on New Album Scorpion
Drake dropped a new double album, "Scorpion" on Friday and it includes an air-check from Buffalo radio station Power 93.7 WBLK.
The out-tro of the track "After Dark" features a throwback air-check from the former "Quiet Storm" host Al Wood. During the 80's and 90's the FM station not only served the African American audiences in Buffalo but was also the only Urban formatted station in the Canadian province of Ontario which includes Toronto where Drake grew up.
Air-checks from the past are always popular among Urban radio listeners and provides opportunities to reminiscence to the music of the past. It's one of the reasons "throwbacks" is popular imaging used today for Urban Adult Contemporary stations.

The most popular Black radio station before WBLK in Buffalo was 1080 AM WUFO which featured popular personalities Frankie Crocker, Gerry Bledsoe, and Imhotep Gary Byrd. All of course moved on to New York City radio stations WWRL, WBLS, and WRKS 98.7 Kiss FM and established themselves as legendary personalities.
