WFAN Will Air New York Yankees Baseball on FM and Giants Football on AM
In an unprecedented move in terms of sports radio, WFAN will air Yankees baseball games on their 101.9 FM signal and the Giants football games on their 660 AM station when both teams play at the same time. These conflicts do happen in other cities that carry multiple sports on the same radio station.
In most cases in other markets, will move one of the teams' radio broadcast to one of their sister FM music stations or to a AM station. Listeners are subject having to locate the other station,which can be confusing. In the past that is what WFAN did. SportsRadio WFAN is unique in the fact that they broadcast continuously on two very strong frequencies. Fans are more accustomed to listening to the AM station rather than the FM signal.
Entercom, a leading media and entertainment company and the unrivaled leader in sports radio, today announced WFAN (WFAN-FM/AM), New York’s flagship sports station and the radio home of the New York Yankees and New York Giants, will split its FM and AM signals on select dates to provide listeners continuous coverage of both teams. During conflicting game dates, New York Giants football games will be broadcast on the station’s AM dial Sports Radio 66 (WFAN-AM). Coverage of Yankees baseball games will continue to be heard on FM dial Sports Radio 101.9 (WFAN-FM).
“August marks the beginning of another exciting start to football season and WFAN remains at the forefront of New York Giants coverage while remaining the home for New York Yankees baseball,” said Mark Chernoff, Senior Vice President, Entercom New York. “Splitting the WFAN signal will allow the station to super serve fans of both iconic teams.”
WFAN station split schedule is as follows on August 8th.
Time Programming Station
6:05 p.m. – 6:25 p.m.: New York Giants pregame show Sports Radio 101.9 FM and 66 AM
6:25 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.: New York Giants pregame show Sports Radio 66 AM
6:25 p.m.: New York Yankees pregame show Sports Radio 101.9 FM
7:00 p.m.: New York Giants vs. New York Jets Sports Radio 66 AM
7:07 p.m.: New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Sports Radio 101.9 FM
WFAN will also split schedule on August 16, 22, September 8, 15, 22, 29 until the end of the baseball season.
