Tyler Perry Purchase of BET in Doubt as Asking Price is Too High, WFAN Reveals New Lineup, Meek Mill is Seeking Money from the Saudis

What you see above has NOT happened. At least not yet. Negotiations between Tyler Perry and Paramount Global, the owner of BET have apparently hit a snag. The New York Post is reporting that Tyler Perry refuses to cough up the $3 billion-plus that Paramount is asking for Black Entertainment Television. The fierce haggling has begun to throw a sale into doubt according to the post.

News of Tyler Perry's apparent purchase of BET, BET+, and VH1 last week was premature as several celebrities went to social media to congratulate him. Many blogs and vlogs were reporting this as fact and have ran stories and images (as in the above) that are simply not true. We were even DM'ed by a website to comment on the following question: (What does the purchase of BET and VH-1 by Tyler Perry mean for the TV/Media landscape?) The original post by Streamr was taken down within a day of the original social media post. Sources report that if Perry and Paramount are unable to come to an agreement then media mogul and owner of The Weather Channel Byron Allen is poised to make a bid to purchase BET.

Audacy has announced a new weekday programming lineup for WFAN (WFAN-FM/AM) in New York, America’s most-listened-to sports station.

5:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. ET: “The Warmup Show with Al and Jerry”
6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. ET: “Boomer and Gio”
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. ET: Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata *NEW
2:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. ET: Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber *NEW
7:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. ET: Keith McPherson
12:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. ET: Chris McMonigle *NEW

The changes are highlighted by the launch of a new afternoon show with Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber. Barber replaces Craig Carton, who will continue to host his responsible gaming show on Saturdays on WFAN. Sal Licata, who currently hosts overnights on the station, replaces Barber alongside Brandon Tierney in middays. Chris McMonigle, producer of the “Carton & Roberts” show, will host a new show in the overnight timeslot.

Apparently rapper Meek Mill is just learning about the amount of money that is being paid to and offered to football (soccer) stars like Cristiano Ronaldo to play in Saudi Arabia. Mill posted this on Twitter just today. Wait until he finds out about the deal between LIV Golf and the PGA.

However most recently soccer star Lionel Messi turned down a $1.6 billion dollar contract to play in Saudi Arabia. Messi is coming to the United States to play in the MLS and Inter Miami for a pay cut of $60 million. The reason Messi turned down the Saudi deal is explained below. Can't blame Meek Mill for seeking that global reach and bag.
