DJ Drewski Exits HOT 97, Marking Another Major Shift in New York Radio
DJ Drewski’s reported departure from HOT 97 marks another significant moment in New York hip hop radio, as the station continues to experience changes involving some of its most recognizable on-air personalities/mix DJs. News of his departure from the station comes in the midst of a live stream rant from morning hosts Mero and Kaz on the lack of leadership at the station along with salary reductions, staff cuts, and free lancers not being paid for their work for Hot 97's Summer Jam. Drewski held down the unusual 11am-1pm time slot at the station, which essentially was a bridge from Mornings with Mero to Nessa's afternoon show.
Although Drewski's bio is still featured on the station's website, he along with station mainstays Bobby Konders, Jabba, and DJ Juanyto also known as DJ John have exited the station over the last few weeks. Former Hot 97 host Rosenberg alerted fans and followers via social media of the exit of these personalities and mentioned there are others he did not name.
As a respected DJ and media personality, Drewski has built his name through his work on HOT 97, his connection to emerging hip-hop artists, and his presence in the culture through music, interviews, and industry relationships. One of his upcoming standout moments will undoubtedly be set in December with a street-renaming ceremony in his hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey, recognizing his impact and accomplishments. The honor will represent a full-circle moment for Drewski, celebrating his roots and the community that helped shape his journey.
