Malcolm X, a Master of the Media

El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, or as he is better known as Malcolm X, makes comments from 1964 after his break away from the Nation of Islam. Some of those comments may even ring true today as it applies to the social condition of the country today. Malcolm is asked about his association with Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali), Guerilla warfare and Black Nationalism.

Malcolm X was assassinated 44 years ago, February 21, 1965 at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem.

Photos of Malcolm X the night the FBI had word that he was going to be assassinated at Philadelphia radio station WDAS. (scroll down the page)

  1. I just spent an hour going thru your WDAS links. I am absolutely amazed by what they were and did in my lifetime, yet i never knew any of this [ I discovered WDAS in 1974, but i guess that as a child, anything not musically oriented just went over my head. ]

It really saddens me that WDAS is less than a shadow of what it should be now. If they think that the nationally syndicated shows they currently braodcast can make up for what Philadelphia has lost in local coverage of issues important to us, then they should just retire now. We need for them to be now what made them important in the first place.
