Steve Harvey Back on the Air in Los Angeles at Radio Free 102.3 KJLH

Urban AC station KJLH has agreed to begin airing the syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show. Harvey has been off the air in Los Angeles since being dropped by Magic Broadcasting's Urban station 93.5 The Beat KDAY a couple of months ago.

KJLH has suffered greatly in terms of listenership and revenue under the PPM electronic ratings system. Steve Harvey will replace current radio vet and local host Guy Black, who came to L.A. from New York's 107.5 WBLS midday slot.

This is a big move for the station, as station owner Stevie Wonder vowed NEVER to go syndication. But desperate times call for desperate measures, which this certainly is. The L.A. market which has a dwindling Black population, seemed to have a huge connection with Harvey, who for many years worked as morning man with Shirley Strawberry at the former L.A. heritage station 100.3 The BEAT after heading west from Chicago. Many listeners were upset when Harvey was dropped from KDAY.

For now it looks like Stevie Wonder's on-air run will come to an end as well. He co-hosted the Thousand Dollar Thunder Thursdays (...or something like that... lol) which is probably a good thing. Who's going to tell the boss that he wasn't a good radio host!
