Star Lawsuit Against Clear Channel Radio Thrown Out
New York Daily News A judge has tossed out the federal lawsuit Star filed after Power 105.1 (WWPR) fired him for making crude comments about a rival's 4-year-old daughter three years ago.
Manhattan Federal Judge Peter Leisure ruled that Clear Channel "did not breach the employment agreement" when it took the radio host off the air. Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, was axed when he suggested he wanted to sexually abuse the daughter of radio competitor Raashaun Casey, also known as DJ Envy (of Hot 97) and his wife Gia Casey. "If you didn't hear me, I said I would like to do an "R. Kelly" on your seed, on your little baby girl," Star said on the air. He also allegedly offered $500 to any listener who could tell him what school the girl attended. "Oh yes, I’ll come for your kids."
His comments on WWPR (105.1) prompted City Councilman John Liu (D-Queens) to brand Torain a "sick, racist pedophile." Torain sued Liu for defamation, and that suit has already been dismissed. Torain later apologized for his comments, which he said occurred during a "war of words" between radio stations.
