Pittsburgh Station Fills Urban Music Void with New Evening Show
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette WLTJ-FM Q92.9, a "Lite Rock" station is launching a new evening program designed to fill the void left when urban WAMO-FM and classic R&B WAMO-AM went off the air.
"Q in the City" is hosted by former WAMO personality Tracey Lee. The music will feature artists such as Earth Wind and Fire, Luther Vandross, Mariah Carey and Kool and the Gang. There's some crossover with the music played on WLTJ's adult contemporary format, and the show's playlist is also designed to complement the music heard on WLTJ's HD2 channel, which listeners need an HD radio receiver to hear.
"Q in the City" airs Sunday through Friday from 9 p.m. to midnight. WAMO went off the air earlier this month, after the station sale closed. The new owners plan to change the three stations -- WAMO-FM and AM and WPGR-AM -- to a religious/Catholic format.
