Charlamagne Fired from 100.3 The Beat in Philly
Despite rumors to the contrary this is NOT a publicity stunt; Radio One has fired Charlamagne and is going in "a different direction"
Radio personality Charlamagne Tha God has announced his firing via Twitter. The firing comes days after his revealing interview with Beanie Sigel. In the interview Sigel discussed his association with Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella records and his raw emotions of not being taken care of by the record company. Meanwhile Jay-Z responded to Beans allegations last Friday at a press conference in Montreal.
Here are Charlamagne's tweets from his Twitter page on Monday (November 2) just before noon.
I just got fired from 100.3 The Beat in Philly. Salute to Philly I hope you all enjoyed me the past 6 months.
RT @lilduval: to everyone excited bout @cthagod getting fired. it dont matter we on TV wit "hood state of the union" see how GOD work. lmao
#cthagodgotfired cause 100.3 The Beat said they want to move in a different direction. God bless them. Thanks for the past 6 months.
#cthagodgotfired for being the glitch in the matrix.
Could it be that 100.3 The Beat is really going in a different direction? They have dropped "Interactive Hip Hop and R&B" for the slogan "The Beat of Philly."
Just had the feeling last Friday when the Charlamagne interview with Beanie Sigel surfaced that there was going to be fallout. Firings on Monday are rare...
By the way the station doesn't seem to have the same vibe as when Elroy Smith had his imprint on the day to day operations at The Beat. "The Big Boss" has added to his duties; which include consulting Radio One's Praise stations across the country and programming their station in Charlotte. Sounds like a full plate...
It was almost one year ago that 107.5 WBLS let go Charlamagne from The Wendy Williams Experience due to budget contraits.
