Tom Joyner Makes Another Big Move in Chicago
It's time for Tom Joyner to get more fly as he makes the move to Urban mainstream station Power 92 on June 1st.
The website Chicagoland Radio and Media is reporting that The Tom Joyner Morning Show will leave Soul 106.3 WSRB for a better signal over at Power 92 WPWX. The station features morning personality Trey Da Choklit Jock, who will move into the 9:00-12 noon slot, and Afternoon jock Sam Sylk.

This is such a throwback concept for Power 92. Instead of letting the music dictate the personality of the station; they are letting the jocks be the stars of the station. The only drawback is that listeners drawn to Tom Joyner will probably not spent the rest of the day listening to Power 92. Maybe Crawford Broadcasting believes they'll switch back over to the weaker signal of Urban AC station Soul 106.3. Crawford owns both stations. The money the Joyner show will bring into the stations makes it worth it to deviate from the music format on Power 92 each morning.
As far as arrangements go, Joyner was buying airtime from Crawford, then going out with their own sales team to get local commercials. No word if that same arrangement will exist on Power 92.
