Democracy Now talks Using New Social Media and Old Media (Radio) to Connect Communities

Democracy Now took their broadcast to Las Vegas at the site of the Netroots Nation convention, where thousands of people gathered and social media was the watchword of the day. They hosted a roundtable discussion on social media with radio host Aimee Allison, founder of OaklandSeen; hip-hop journalist and activist, Davey D; and Cheryl Contee, aka Jill Tubman, co-founder of the political blog "Jack and Jill Politics."
In the discussion the panel talked about how Social Media covered the Oscar Grant protest and "riots" in Oakland a couple of weeks ago as a multi-racial event, which was far different from how the mainstream media covered the story. (a case of the media censoring the news ...interesting) .
