Lil Mo Exits 95.5 WPGC

Lil Mo is out as afternoon host at CBS Radio's 95.5 WPGC in Washington, D.C. She is looking to return to her music career and drops a new album "P.S. I Love, Me" this summer. Her first single from the album is "On The Floor."

Lil' Mo also just wrapped up the church soloist part in the touring cast of the Broadway musical 'The Color Purple.' The production ended with an Easter engagement at the National Theatre in the Nation's Capital.

This move marks another change in the on-air line-up at WPGC in recent months. Rumors continue to swirl revolving the format at the station about whether it will remain urban contemporary or change to rhythmic contemporary. No replacement has been named yet. Former 100.3 The Beat in Philly on-air personality and D.C. native, Laiya St. Clair is filling in.

  1. It's makes sense for CBS to keep WPGC as a hybrid of both urban and rhythmic, but they are going hard for the top spot held by Hot 99.5 with the rhythmic tracks spins. WPGC is the 2nd highest billing station in the DC radio market, so CBS is happy with the revenue flow it is bringing in considering its "unique" format. In all likelihood, WPGC will mirror its sister station WZMX "Hot 93.7" in Hartford in being an urban-rhythmic contemporary station that spins slow jams Sunday-Thursday nights. The irony is WZMX was mirrored after WPGC when it was created back in 2001, so it comes full circle.

On whom will be the afternoon drive person, it's going to be a toss up between Laiya St. Clair and Herkcules. However, I think Herk will ultimately wind up with the spot since he has experience doing afternoons in the past.
