96.3 WHUR hires veteran programmer Maxx Myrick as its new Program Director
Howard University's Urban AC WHUR hires programming veteran Maxx Myrick as PD. He starts at the station on Tuesday, July 5.
Myrick was the long-time PD of Clear Channel Urban AC WVAZ "V103" Chicago until 2000. He later joined XM Satellite Radio, programming its Jazz and several Urban channels including "the Flow," from 2000 - 2008. He most recently wrote for the Nashville Jazz Examiner, and had his own programming consultancy, Myrick Media. Maxx replaces Dave Dickinson, who exited WHUR a year ago. Source
WHUR is considered to be one of the more innovative Urban AC stations in the country. It's the home of the original "Quiet Storm" created at WHUR in 1976. The station, that sounds like Washington, also boasts one of the best HD2 stations in the country, WHUR World, along with the Saturday night program "The Hang Suite" with Mark Clarke, Troy Johnson and producer Nikki Strong; which is well worth taking a listen to with its adult mix of uptempo R&B and Hip Hop music.
