Jason Kidd named Program Director of 95.5 WPGC-FM
Jason Kidd has been named Program Director of 95.5 WPGC-FM in Washington, D.C.
The announcement was made today by Greg Strassell, Senior Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO and Reggie Rouse, Vice President of Urban Programming for the Company. The appointment is effective immediately.
Kidd joined the station earlier this year as Assistant Program Director. In this new role, his responsibilities will include oversight of the station’s music programming, on-air staff, production/imaging and promotions, as well as managing a web/social networking presence.
“Jason has proven himself as a fierce, competitive programmer in the past few months,” says Strassell. “We already feel the momentum in the hallways, and know his long time passion for WPGC will make it an exciting radio station to listen to and watch grow. Being able to promote from within for this very important position confirms we have the best talent on our team.”
Kidd began his radio career in high school as an intern with B104 WBSB-FM in Baltimore (later renamed Z104.3). Kidd held various on-air positions before he transitioned into programming. From 1999-2004, Kidd worked as a program director at WWHT-Syracuse, WKST-Pittsburgh and KQBT-Austin.
Prior to his joining WPGC, Kidd was Music Director at CBS RADIO’s WWMX in Baltimore and also did PM drive as part of “The Jason and Jenn Show.”
This move almost assuredly signals more tweaking with WPGC's format, as it moves closer to a more rhythmic Top 40 contemporary sound than ever before. The station is home to "The Big Tigger Morning Show."
Now it's off to Miami to see if he can help tie up the series for the Dallas Mavericks against the Heat.
