He shared his thoughts before and after via his facebook page:
"I'm going back to BET...for one day. I have been asked to anchor their coverage of Whitney Houston's funeral tomorrow and I'm honored to do it. It's going to be a tough day for everyone, but we're going to give Nippy the homecoming celebration she deserves.
I was asked to pick anyone I wanted to help me thru the broadcast and I immediately chose Jimmy Jam. He is one of the coolest, most knowledgable, and insightful people I know, and I look forward to working with him, albeit under very difficult circumstances. We will start our coverage at 11:30 tomorrow morning and we'll bring you the entire ceremony, which starts at noon."
After the funeral:
"I am so glad this day is over. It has been a very emotional day and week. I'm really glad that I went back to BET to anchor their coverage of Whitney's homegoing ceremony today. She was an incredible talent and even more incredible person. Thanks to Jimmy Jam and Lola for their help. I could not have made it thru it without you. Thanks also to all of you who watched our coverage. I Truly hope that you feel we did this Queen justice. Now RIP Nippy. We will miss you, but we'll never forget you."
Many fans expressed their thoughts of gratitude towards Donnie as he handled the coverage outstandingly under the difficult circumstances of the day. Many also were glad to see the former host of Video Soul back on the air at BET.
