V103 Atlanta Signs Egypt Sherrod for Middays

Egypt Heads South for the ATL

In a surprising industry move, Egypt Sherrod has been tapped to takeover the midday slot at CBS radio's V-103 (WVEE) in Atlanta. The station is the number one station in the city but apparently they're looking to bolster their midday numbers even more. Egypt, a Philadelphia native, began her radio career at Radio One's "Philly 103.9" (WPHI) and then moved on to 92 Q (WERQ) in Baltimore. From there she was off to NYC where she has done two stints at 107.5 WBLS. Also on her resume is Power 105.1 (WWPR) where she co-hosted mornings with Big Tigger and Donnell "Ashy Larry" Rawlings of the Dave Chappelle show; then she became the lead host of the morning show. She has also hosted various national TV shows for CNN and HLN; “Property Virgins” for HGTV, and correspondent on the "Maury" show.

Middays at V-103 have been a revolving door at the station for the last seven years. Meanwhile during that time Frank and Wanda in the Morning, Ryan Cameron in afternoon drive, and Greg Street behind the mic at night have been fixtures at the station. Ousted midday host Ramona DeBreaux was promoted from part-time to middays just a year ago. New York radio personality Deja Vu has been hosting the midday slot at WBLS in the absence of Egypt while she gave birth to her first child in January.

Rodney Ho of the AJC grabs an exclusive interview with the V-103 management on their decision.
