Univision Drops Spanish Programming and Launches “Radio H2O” in Dallas

Radio H20 could be coming your way soon, and it has nothing to do with water (aqua)

Coming on the heels of a concert that was recently sponsored by Univision, the Hispanic music programmer dropped the Spanish Oldies on the station formerly known as Recuerdo 107.9 (KESS) in Dallas. The new format geared towards Hispanic young people is a bilingual (some Spanish, mostly English) Contemporary Rhythmic, Top 40 Hits and Hip Hop presentation called Radio H2O. The station is imaging itself as H20 standing for "Hispanic 2.0." The "H20 Music Festival" in Dallas featured a mix of English and Spanish artists including Juanes, Snoop Dogg, Gym Class Heroes, Weezer, Paulina Rubio, Tiesto, Yelawolf and Damian Marley. A similar festival will be held in Los Angeles on August 25.

Univision has also registered domains for every city where it has a radio station such as: RadioH20Chicago.com, RadioH20NewYork.com, RadioH20Houston, RadioH20LA.com and others. Univision is presumably ready to enter those markets with the "H20" format in the future to not only compete for Hispanic audiences 18-25 but other demos as well.

Expect to hear Rihanna, Flo Rida, Katy Perry, Pitbull, LMFAO, and the like from the station. Take a listen to the new H20 107.9 Dallas
