WBLS Moves and Cuts 'The Open Line' for More Music

Co-host James Mtume says he moving on to new projects

WBLS (107.5) has decided that the popular Sunday morning talk show "The Open Line" needed to be cut down to a one hour show on Sunday morning. Promotional announcements airing on WBLS suggest that listeners want more music heard on the station.

As a result "The Open Line" has been reduced to a one hour program and airs from 8:00-9:00 a.m. instead of the former time slot of 10:00 a.m. - Noon. The show will continue with hosts Bob Slade and Bob Pickett however the show has lost host James Mtume. The show was originally launched on 98.7 Kiss FM (WRKS) in 1989 and was one of a few shows that transitioned over to WBLS when Kiss FM became ESPN Radio and made 'BLS became the only Urban AC station in New York City.
