Ben’s Chili Bowl New Mural with Michelle, Barack, Chappelle, Donnie Simpson, and Russ Parr
Ben’s Chili Bowl has unveiled it's new mural. Once again DC's legendary radio personality Donnie Simpson and newcomer to the wall, Majic 102.3/92.7's morning host Russ Parr have been honored with their likeness appearing on the side of the building of the famous landmark restaurant. Simpson, who was part of the original mural with President Obama, Chuck Brown, and Bill Cosby, had said that he did not want to be pictured on the new mural. Along with Simpson and Parr, the new mural features Dick Gregory, Dave Chappelle, Marion Barry, WRC TV news anchor Jim Vance, Congress woman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Wale, Taraji P. Henson, Donnie Simpson, Roberta Flack, Prince, Chuck Brown, Muhammad Ali, Harriet Tubman, Michelle Obama and Barack Obama. The restaurant had an online vote to narrow the choices, however the new wall honors, a few more personalities than they had originally planned for. The artist did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of each personality. The restaurant will celebrate its 60th year as a D.C. institution next year.
