Michael Baisden Returning to Atlanta Radio on Mix 87.7
Syndicated radio host Michael Baisden is returning to Atlanta airwaves on the new Mix 87.7. Last month Baisden was dropped by Kiss 104.1 (WALR) in favor of local host Sasha the Diva. Kiss also dropped Tom Joyner in the A.M. for a live and local morning show with Art Terrell.
He’ll start in mid January and air from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Station owner Steve Hegwood told the AJC regarding the move to put Baisden back on the air in Atlanta, “He gets great ratings in this market, has a stellar name, is a king of social media.” He hopes to bring the popular host to Atlanta as much as possible.
It was in Atlanta, a year ago on MLK Day 2017, where Baisden and his current syndication company, Superadio launched his return to national radio at Kiss 104.1. It was in 2013, when Baisden's first syndicated show, which began as a night show on the former 98.7 Kiss FM in New York City, "Love, Lust & Lies" ended.
Being back in Atlanta is a bit of good news for Baisden, however, in some not so good news for him, a federal court in Texas has ordered Baisden to pay Cumulus Media, his former syndication company, a total of $1.869 million to settle a complaint Cumulus brought against the host to retrieve money it overpaid him from 2012-2013. The final judgment issued by U.S District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas is a harsh rebuke of efforts by Baisden to get a judge to order either a new trial or issue a judgment in his favor.
