CRAZY AUDIO: Kevin Ryder Says Goodbye to Listeners, Calls KROQ Toxic

Kevin Ryder who was fired after his morning show this week on KROQ (K Rock) Los Angeles, but was allowed to come back on the air the next day to say farewell to his listeners and proceeded to call the station "toxic." Also fired were Allie MacKay and Jensen Karp.

"Along the way, the one criticism of the station I’ve had since day one is that they’ve always treated me, along with everybody else here, like we’re lucky to have jobs," Ryder said on-air. "The management of the station uses that at times to be incredibly cruel to people … some of the more higher-profile ones — Lisa May, Ralph Garman — you guys know those stories all too well."

Ryder continued to say that there were numerous staff members at KROQ, who were “discarded like trash” or left because the station was “toxic.”

(This is the reason stations don't allowed on-air staff that exit a station to say goodbye to their listeners. This could have gone left or off the rails very quickly. Ryder to his credit remained professional even with a hot microphone.)

Apparently after his rant he was escorted out of the studios.
Ryder had been with the station for 30 years, having started on air in 1990.

Entercom, the owners of KROQ, is replacing Ryder with their afternoon hosts Stryker and Klein.

KROQ’s Kevin Ryder Speaks Out on ‘Cruel’ Firings: ‘I Was Really Livid’

So then they called me back and they said, “Do you want to say goodbye?” And I thought, yeah, I’d like to say goodbye. I’d like to thank people. That’s a step not everybody gets. I thought I’d go quietly, thank people and not make a big stink about it and then...

That’s when I lost it. The last straw was our board op, Destiny [Lopez], who we just hired two or three months ago. I said, “why would you fire her? She’s probably the best board op you have. You’re not going to need board ops? She hasn’t worked with us that long, it’s not like she has any bad reputation or anything. I don’t even get that.” And he said, and I quote, “Oh, we fired Destiny? That must have been the GM.” And I hung up...

ABC TV's late night host Jimmy Kimmel took to Twitter to express his disappointment in KROQ.
