Frank Ski Exits The People's Station V-103 WVEE Atlanta

We tuned into V-103 yesterday morning to catch some of Frank Ski, but to our surprise we heard Greg Street (Skreet!) holding down the morning show. Hmm...a day off in the middle of week is not something that ordinarily happens in radio. Well today comes the announcement from Frank Ski himself that he is leaving Entercom's WVEE V-103 as morning host. The passing of Civil Rights leaders Rep. John Lewis and Rev. C.T. Vivian over last weekend may have delayed his announcement until today.

Frank Ski was the host of  morning show since 2018 and revamped as "The Morning Culture"(a name that never caught on with listeners) in 2019. He hosted "Frank & Wanda in the Morning" from 1998 to 2012.  Frank Ski left in 2012 to seek a syndication deal that never materialized under then ownership CBS Radio. He then commuted from Atlanta to Washington, D.C. weekly to host afternoons at 96.3 WHUR until 2015. From there he rejoined V-103 as a weekend host and eventually worked his way back to the morning host chair.

Before relocating to Atlanta in 1998, Frank Ski was one of Baltimore's most popular radio personalities in the late 80's and 90's at “V103” WXYV and “92Q” WERQ. Ironically enough Frank Ski was simulcast from Atlanta to Baltimore as morning host on the short lived station X105.7 with the revived call signs WXYV in 2001 under CBS ownership. (He was told flat out in 2012 by CBS Radio that they would not syndicate him.) He is also known for the Baltimore club hit "Doo Doo Brown" that became a nationwide Hip Hop dance anthem in 1989.

Frank Ski shares a story of how he almost didn't come to Atlanta but was headed to Washington, D.C.

“It is my duty to use my voice to take our community to the next level. Stay tuned ... BIG ANNOUNCEMENT AHEAD.”

We'll keep you posted.
