Roland Martin Talks Owning His Own Platform 'Roland Martin Unfiltered' with Over 100 Million + Views in Its First Year
Now the Program is in Year Two
Roland Martin recently joined The Breakfast Club to have a conversation on Presidential debates (before the actual debates on September 29th); a heated talk with Charlamagne on gentrification and Trump's “Opportunity Zones,” and the power of the Supreme Court.
However a very important conversation occurs at the beginning as Roland Martin talks about owning his own media platform and what that means for the future. Martin was the host of NewsOne Now on TV One until production of the program was suspended by the cable network in 2017. The show was launched in 2013.
At the time Martin said, “I am undoubtedly saddened by NewsOne Now ending daily production.We set out to give America, specifically Black America, a show that spoke to our issues, concerns and unique perspective. And we did just that.”
Martin did not sit around and wait for an opportunity to develop with another media company, he created one for himself with some of his former production team from TV One.
Roland Martin Unfiltered has undoubtedly exceeded expectations in its two years of existence and has given viewers access to news and commentary from a decidedly African American perspective.
