Rickey Smiley Show Member 'Pastor Fred' Dies After Contracting Covid-19

Pastor and comedian Fred Thomas has died after suffering COVID-19 complications, his family announced Wednesday morning.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of my father Pastor Fred Thomas,” his son said in a Facebook post. “This was not our will or desire, but it is the will of God in which we accept. Please pray for my family and I as we go through this trying time of loss. All will be well and we will make it through this as he would have wanted us to.”

Pastor Fred Thomas was from Mckinney, Texas and had a well established comedy career. He joined The Rickey Smiley Show for the "Church in 60 Seconds" segment in January after the show relocated from Atlanta to Dallas. Here is a message from Rickey Smiley and an interview with Thomas' wife Desiree. Dallas TV station NBC5 had reported on and followed Fred Thomas' condition. He contracted the virus on December 10. There has been an outpouring of love on Thomas' facebook page.
